One of the most underestimated things in Pilates and life is proper breathing, deeply into the stomach, not just the chest. Several times during the day, become aware of your breathing and make sure that you inhale deeply and exhale all the air from your lungs. 

Here is a simple breathing exercise that you can practice when you wake up, or before you go to sleep. Lay on your back and place a hand on your stomach. As you inhale, feel you belly draw in and up for five long counts. Exhale slowly, ringing out you lungs. Your abdomen will naturally drop toward you spine. ​
